A Maya Film Night at SCHE
“CHAC: The Rain God”
a cult classic from the 1970’s by filmmaker Rolando Klein. Plus a short film about a global event at Machu Picchu.
*Director Rolando Klein will be joining us via zoom to introduce our featured film Chac*
“CHAC” tells the timeless story of a severe drought in the Maya region of Chiapas, and the shamanic journey that a Mayan community makes to bring the rains they so desperately need. This feature will be preceded by a short film documentary about a pre-Harmonic Convergence ceremony in 1987 at Machu Picchu. This event was envisioned and coordinated by Jim Berenholtz, and brought indigenous elders from all over the world to do one co-created ceremony together in Peru. Jim will share some of the background story about this event, and how Sedona was a big part of it from the beginning
